(Beijing, January 9) The Beijing women's team frustrated Beijing PLA in the semifinal of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 Handball Tournament this afternoon and will take on arch rivals Jiangsu again in the final to be held on January 11.

Prior to that, Beijing PLA, double winners of the 2007 National Champions Cup and National Championship, toiled in the tournament as they had lost to Jiangsu and Beijing respectively after a win over Anhui. Their rivals Beijing, for their part, kept an unbeaten record as they had leveled Jiangsu and beat both PLA and Anhui in the group matches. Li Xue, on the Beijing team, is a favorite for the best shooter with 26 goals so far.

The score in the first half was close with each side playing well in the front court.

Tying at 15 all into the second half, PLA had two players fouled out in the 15th minute and Beijing grasped the opportunity to keep ahead 24-20.

PLA managed to narrow the gap thanks to several fast break points following stops from goalkeeper Yang Liang, making it 26-25. But their turnovers in the crunch time eventually buried the PLA team in the 30-27 defeat.
