(Beijing, January 6) The medical service provided at the on-going "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 Handball Tournament at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium has been widely recognized since the opening of the event last Saturday.
According to Wu Hang, medical manager of the event, as handball is a high-risk sport members of the medical team attached great importance to the efficiency of their work. Last November, Wu said, the team underwent the test of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 Wushu World Championships, which helped make them well prepared for the current handball tournament.
Consisting of medical workers and volunteers from six hospitals in Xuanwu and Dongcheng districts, Wu added, the medical team rehearsed its service in detail and worked out plans to meet emergencies. They worked closely and gave professional performances when dealing with illness and injuries of athletes and venue workers. Among the medical team were also student volunteers from local medical schools who, by creating wall newspapers with inspiration stories, encouraged their fellow workers to work hard to help ensure the success of the event.
